Party history
The Progressives emerged when Jim Anderton left the Alliance in 2002. Contesting that year's election as Jim Anderton's Progressive Coalition, the party won two seats. It did not contest the 2011 election following Anderton's decision to retire, and its registration was cancelled at its request in March 2012.
